6th grade Rocket Launch

May 2017
The 6th graders had a rocket launch day.  They each bought different rockets and launched them in the field at the school. Kale launched his the first time but we walked all over the school yard and couldn't find it to launch again.  A lot of the other students at the school also came out and sat on the grass and watched the rockets launch.

Recorders

April 2017
Each year when the kids are in 4th grade, they get to play the recorder.  They have to pass so many levels and then at the end of the year, they do a concert for the parents.

After the recorder concert, I surprised Ellie and checked her out to eat lunch.  She chose to go to Pizza pie cafe which is a buffet/all you can eat pizza and pasta restaurant.

Baby Birds

April 2017
Right outside Ellie's bedroom window, some Robins built a nest and laid eggs.  We watched them pretty regularly to watch them hatch and grow.  When they were old enough to fly from the next, they never went very far.  They always stayed pretty close to our house most of the summer.

Idaho Falls, Jackson Hole, Grand Tetons, Star Valley and Bear Lake

April 2017
The Idaho Falls temple has been closed for a few years getting a complete indoor remodel.  We decided to take a long weekend and drive up to go through the open house.  The temple was BEAUTIFUL.  They restored all the original hand painted walls.  We stopped at a rest stop and changed our clothes then went straight to the temple.

We spent the night in a hotel in Idaho Falls and spent the night swimming. We did take a break to eat dinner and the kids had some money so we went to the toy store to get something for each of them.

The next day, we took drive toward Jackson Hole.  We stopped at a gas station that had square ice cream cones.  It was 9o'clock in the morning but we had to try the ice cream in a square!

Mom bought some nostalgic Idaho candy!
We arrived in Jackson Hole and parked by these statues.

At a toy store in Jackson, the kids got to do some target shooting with some laser guns.

We at lunch in Jackson and then headed to see the Grand Tetons.

On our way home, we stopped in Star Valley, Wyoming to see their temple.  It was so tiny.  Angel Moroni looked huge at the top!

We then stopped in Bear Lake to get a shake.

Pinewood Derby

April 2017
Max had a great time at the pinewood derby.  He didn't win anything but it was fun to make a car and race it.  Nate got to be one of the official referees.  He sat at the end videoing the cars and then playing it back in slow motion to see who the winner was!!
